Alf sounds decent. I guess they needed someone willing to live in Adelaide, and he lives there already, I assume with a family. Might be why he's high calibre and not willing to move somewhere else.
Btw not saying Adelaide is awful, its beautiful, but might be difficult to convince an international to move to!
