*Fwiw, On Days like this we need to remind ourselves of the Fact, that

The incoming Democratic Republic of Congo mining charter has knocked around 15% off Ivanhoe Mines' share price but this is an opportunity, according to Bernstein's Paul Gait.

Gait questioned investors' focus on the DRC, even though its political instability is an investment risk.

"Were this any other developing country, the reaction from commentary around what is being proposed would not have been anywhere near as severe," he said.

Bernstein's price target for Ivanhoe is still $15, an almost-300% increase on the current level.

Gait's hypothesis for mining development continuing in the DRC is simple: the world needs its resources.

In the note, he said the country "unambigously" needs mining investment, but that the world needs the DRC "even more so".

"We have described the DRC as the Saudi Arabia of the electric vehicle age, and we mean it," he said.

"The world's use of electricity, and green electricity at that, will increase dramatically over the next few decades; this demand must be met with raw materials and, in particular, with copper and cobalt.

"There are no new Chiles, but there is the Congo."

Electric-vehicle maker Rivian Automotive Inc. priced its initial public offering at $78 a share Tuesday night, well above its expected range and valuing the company at $77 billion on a fully diluted basis.

The company plans to sell 153 million shares in its offering, raising $11.9 billion — a figure Bloomberg News reported makes it the largest IPO of the year and sixth-largest ever on a U.S. exchange.

Rivian is expected to begin trading Wednesday on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol “RIVN”

Amazon.com Inc. and Ford Motor Co. are among Rivian’s backers.

The EV maker has raised $10.5 billion since 2019 after several investment rounds, with the latest a $2.5 billion funding round in July.

Besides an electric pickup and an electric SUV, Rivian also plans to make electric delivery vans for Amazon and have its own charging network.

Geely’s Farizon Auto unveils ‘Homtruck’ electric semi for global market in 2024

Farizon Auto, the commercial vehicle branch of Geely, launched a new electric semi-truck concept called the Homtruck.

While the unveiled vehicle remains a concept, Geely has already shared intentions to enter production and begin deliveries in 2024.

Furthermore, the Chinese automaker is planning to roll out the Homtruck semi in international markets too, including North America.

Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd., or Geely for short, is a multinational automotive manufacturer headquartered in Hangzhou, China.

In addition to developing and manufacturing its own vehicles under its Geely Auto brand, the company owns Volvo Group, which manufactures both Volvo and Polestar EVs.

Geely is also associated with auto brands like Lotus and its newest premium EV brand ZEEKR.

Under the Geely New Energy Commercial Vehicle Group sits Farizon Auto, one of several commercial vehicle manufacturers focused on net-zero carbon transportation.

Since being founded by Geely in 2016, Farizon Auto’s core products have been light commercial vehicles, in addition to urban buses and coaches.

The commercial marque’s core drivetrain technologies are developed in-house, with a focus on pure electric solutions and range extension.

Looking ahead, Geely and Farizon look to deliver one of the cleanest and most technologically advanced commercial EVs with the newly announced Homtruck electric semi… complete with its own exterior kitchen.

In a recent press release out of Shanghai, Geely announced the initial launch of Farizon Auto’s Homtruck semi-truck.

The electric semi gets its name from the original aspiration of its creators – to create a semi-truck that feels like home.

According to Farizon Auto, its engineers studied the needs of commercial vehicle drivers and fleet operators during Homtruck’s hardware and software development process.

As a result, the automaker plans to provide greater efficiencies throughout the commercial transportation network while giving drivers comfort in a semi they will spend a large amount of time in.

To that note, the Homtruck’s cockpit includes a bathroom with a shower and toilet, a single bed, a refrigerator, a tea maker, a kitchen, and a small washing machine.

From the driver’s seat, an AI assistant works alongside 360-degree cameras to help to keep the operator aware of any issues happening around the vehicle, whether it’s moving or stationary.

Furthermore, Farizon Auto’s CEO Mike Fan told CNBC the company is designing the Homtruck for the global commercial market and plans to release the semi-truck in Europe, Korea, Japan, and North America in addition to China.

As previously mentioned, the Homtruck electric semi will seek production and deliveries sometime in 2024. Check out the unveiling video below:

Who said you have to wait until 2022 to see a new Ford F-150 Lightning in your driveway?

Together with the help of Google, Ford just launched “F-150 Lightning: Strike Anywhere,” a 3D, augmented reality experience available anywhere using your smartphone.

(The link is here.) The 3D animations allow you to browse through variations of the upcoming electric pickup, while the AR function lets you place a Lightning truck in front of you to visualize it in real life.

This past May, Ford unveiled the an all-electric version of its long-running, best-selling pickup, the F-150 Lightning.

Since its initial launch, Ford has been taking F-150 Lightning reservations with a $100 refundable deposit, initially revealing that the truck had received 20,000 reservations on the first day.

Soon, it eclipsed 44,000 reservations for the F-150 Lightning within 48 hours.

Demand for the F-150 Lightning reservations carried steadily through the summer, and now sits at 160,000.

Based on production timelines shared by Ford, that means every F-150 Lightning is currently spoken for through 2023, and possibly longer, depending on how many people follow through on their reservations.

To help build further anticipation and educate consumers about its new electric truck, Ford has launched a 3D F-150 Lightning experience anyone can try out for themselves.
