Hypothetical example - type of costs not specified, all in the same currency:
Gold price - $2500
High Cost Company A. costs = $2000 per ounce. Margin = $500 per ounce.
Low Cost Company B. costs = $1500 per ounce Margin = $1000 per ounce
Then gold price increases to $3000
High Cost Company A Margin now becomes $1000 per ounce. Up 100%
Low Cost Company B Margin now becomes $1500 per ounce Up only 50%
