If some can't distinguish the difference between an investment and a trade then the chance of understanding compound accretion is nil.
Understandably most will take the $5 today over the $45 in 10 years. But if one has enough to live off the next 10 years I don't see the point in cashing in the $5 today... and that figure is on a company with a modest 15% ROE.
