    As soon as Rivian open up pre-orders in Oz, I will be putting down a deposit. I will be using it to tow a van. It will be good for 4.5t, 1t more than the Landcruiser. The max pack battery option is good for 650km. Towing my van, I am guessing that range will still be approx' 400km. I estimate that using my current towing experience. I don't travel any further than that when caravanning anyway. Why would I being retired. I don't travel into the Simpson desert. I make regular stops for my old bladder and coffee. The charger super highway has already commenced. Check out the charger locations on the map. Check WA's latest fast charger network plans. By 2025 I would think even the Nullarbor will have a charger network along the Route.

    I will have a genny on board which I carry with the caravan anyway. If I was desperate, which I don't think I ever will be, I would charge overnight with a 2kW 240V charger which would get me some emergency km to get to a charger. I would think the Genny will be ditched after a while as the onboard EV batteries will negate the requirement to carry one.

    I intend to walk the talk. I think once people like myself start rolling into campsites with EV's towing vans and the crowd start seeing what they are capable of, the change will happen quickly. Caravans will start having battery packs and Electric drive motors to supplement the tow vehicle capacity. I cannot wait as I for one just think that the few people who go off into the never never, won't be enough to keep production of ICE viable.

    I grew up in the bush and well remember being out the back of Bourke with my ol' man and having to scrounge diesel from a station hand once. There ain't any servos out there either.

    There's my new toy below, unfortunately it looks like 2024 before it will be available in OZ. $150k, paid for by PLS and team.
