The LIS Battery will outlast the lifespan of the vehicle.
Average life of a vehicle in Australia is 10 years.

But many are fewer than five years old, and nearly one million were scrapped in 2015-16 The average age of Australia’s vehicle fleet is 10.1 years,www.drive.com.au
As for recycling, this is done by manufacturers of LION to extract the rare metals (actually for price not sustainability). The process heats the metals to over 1000 degrees to separate & extract the rare metals - which is not good for the environment.
"Just as economic factors can make the case for recycling batteries, they also make the case against it...."
"Another long-term financial concern for companies considering stepping into battery recycling is whether a different type of battery, such as Li air, or a different vehicle propulsion system, like hydrogen-powered fuel cells, will gain a major foothold on the electric-vehicle market in coming years, lowering the demand for recycling Li-ion batteries."

A projected surge in electric-vehicle sales means that researchers must think about conserving natural resources and addressing battery end-of-life issuescen.acs.org
LIS does not contain the heavy metals from the outset.
Through LIS's advanced battery technology they will be producing an environmentally friendly, green battery, with a long lifespan, lower cost, lighter weight, faster charging, safer and more energy dense.
The smartest brains on the planet at Deakin would have fully considered any future recycling opportunities of LIS (agree with Trading Day).
They will need to make better cars to keep up with LIS!!
