yet at the start of the pandemic all the same people were howling like mad dogs for "herd immunity" - "like Sweden" which nation lost a great many of their elderly. now we have the chance to achieve herd immunity the safe way, through vaccination.

as was done with the terrible death that was smallpox, eradication of the virus depends on everyone developing immunity. if you're keen on getting the virus infection method you will need to get sick and risk dying. more than 90% survive thanks to the excellence of our free health care, among the very best health systems in the world, and so you are likely to be left with scarring which will effect your lifestyle and activity, and may even effect your income.

this doesn't give you lifelong immunity though because covid mutates regularly, unlike smallpox.... a new strain of mutations and you're again unprepared.

the vaccine is the safe way to prepare your immune system for the virus.

your choice, but I want to see Aus develop herd immunity with minimal cost to the community or the health system. we need at least 95%..... but this leaves the 5% who choose not to vaccinate as the most vulnerable group in the community.

so don't visit Moggs in Cairns and wear a mask...... oh and please discuss your decision and plans with your doctor.

Scott, your argument doesn't stand up because this jab(not a vaccine) is not like all the vaccines that controlled all those terrible diseases,
You cannot get herd immunity with this drug, it does not stop you from getting or transmitting the virus, it gives some protection from severe disease for a short time.
The jab's effectiveness wears off rapidly and eventually becomes a negative , driving more severe disease (ADE) therefore you are locked into a series of booster shots.
The only way to get herd immunity is for everyone to get the virus.
The virus mutates quickly by changing the spike protein to get around the one provided by the jab.
When you get the virus you get immunity to all the proteins that make up the virus, not just the spike protein.
Ideally it would be a good idea to get the virus soon after getting the jab when you have the best protection from severe illness..
once you have had the virus don't get the jab as you are at high risk of a severe reaction and it is no longer necessary.
Immunity to the original SARS is still strong in those who had the disease 17 years ago, Covid 2 is 80% similar.
