Maybe the other scenario is Peter is smart enough to know what he is not good at, suggested to management that he was not the man for this job, still wants to capitalise on the work and investment that he has, found someone who can do what he is not good at. Adam wouldn’t be taking this on to fail and I don’t think Peter did either.
