So long as we stay away from the extreme edges of understanding, where both religion and science is speculative and unlikely to ever prove up understanding, I agree with you.
It's all but impossible to get through to religion that anything proven by science can not be contradicted by some religious superstition. There's one reality, one truth and if you accept the religious premiss, then all science is doing is proving up Creation. When a religion contradicts science it contradicts G.d and Creation. I'm sure you get my point here, this is by logical definition, who knows what is actual?
Yes, science has so very much more to reveal to us, and so should healthy religion. There's nothing more righteous about religion than there is science, the real difference between religion and science is that scientists are educated, are subject to brutal peer review and they are known by their fruits and the fruits of science are abounding. In this age the fruits of religion are the perpetuation of ignorance.
