Jaynes model is highly speculative. Rather than a thing, what we call consciousness is a collection of attributes represented in conscious form, sensory information as vision, hearing, smell, taste, touch, emotion, thought, etc.....being conscious is not limited to humans, anything with a brain/senses experiences consciousness and is able to communicate to some degree (neural architecture).
