As a long-time lurker (and now first-time poster!) on HC I've been learning a lot from some super well-informed posters on this ticker who are very generous with their time. With the price action of late I feel the attention has turned away from the valuation fundamentals that make BRK so attractive.
So I'll try and bring things back with a (probably dumb question) - how sensitive is the value of a "BOE in the ground" to the current O&G prices? I've seen some figures thrown around (eg. $10.5 NPV) but I imagine they're pinned to a particular oil price (say $70/barrel)? I'd be keen to think about both the upside and downside scenarios given all the current discussion with US/China, OPEC, supply and demand forecasts etc...
