It's not about how dangerous it is or what kind of junk tests you can buy cheaply from Boots; your personal test is irrelevant. It's about you being forcefully quarantined and paying through the roof for it.

One German chic was quoted 10K baht per night recently for a 10 day stay in a tent. People have flown in and spent their holiday in a hotel room because someone on the plane tested positive. One was quarantined for 14 days because another person was found positive. The infected person had to quarantine for only 10 days. The victim tested himself and it was negative.

I've been in BKK for the last 19 months and have read some horror stories. The point is to not be in close contact with other tourists so avoid the white vans, buses, etc.
Depending on where you're going you may not be able to sit in a bar and have a beer. Take that into account. Currently it's 9pm alcohol stops being sold in venues that are approved. In Pattaya there's no alcohol even. They're trying to kill off the nightlife industry and attract rich tourists. Daydreamers! I had a dinner a few days ago at Lebua and they only had a mocktail menu. Pathetic!

Of course you can still drink at non-approved bars, even past 9, however you run the risk of being arrested for it.
