I am opposed to the practice of share placements by public companies to sophisticated investors/institutions at a discount to market price. I think that all shareholders should able to participate in any fund raising by their company on a proportional basis. This practice strikes me as a rort where an elite group are being advantaged to the detriment of all other owners (shareholders) of a company. I'd like to see the practice legislated against in Australian listed companies.
What do others think?
