Well Fridays race was the Demolition Derby .Conditions early in the day were OK and our small field of 37 began reasonably well .It seems a number of our trainers kept their runners in the stable today as 37 tips is the lowest for sometime. The smartest trainer as it transpired said he wouldn't be trading as he was taking the kids to the zoo -smart move as it later transpired.
As I said all was going OK until a black swan landed fair and square in the middle of the course proper and scattered the field. A number of runners fell or lost their jockeys and punters were left to pick up the pieces. After the swan incident a large storm hit the course and the track quickly became a quagmire. With dividends dropping many scrambled to cash it their tickets at reduced odds.
Amazingly a couple of runners including a first starter managed to complete the course and gain Honorable Mention Awards .These go to JDR open .049 / top fluc .056 /close .052 from @takizawa2 and @wrighty64 and the first starter AYA (a medical tech colt) who was 1.45 /1.675 /.1.52 from the stables of @legs and @traderforever . Stewards room was quiet considering the carnage .A couple of interesting runners that have been tipped by a few of the DT punters recently (but not yesterday ) were BRK .018 /.021 /.02 ,IDZ .07 /.087 / .074 and VR1 .25 /.29 /.275 .would all have gained awards had they been nominated.
Hopefully conditions improve for next week although a few at the track believe racing will be affected for some time while track repairs take place. We all await Mondays racing ,with some punters casting their eye over heavily discounted bloodstock over the weekend. Cheers Sobar.
