Because this is a Religion and Philosophy site I have been using the term, Free Will. This term is associated as choosing between right and wrong in both Philosophical terms and Religious terms. It is in reality the right and capacity to choose tweaked up to be a bit more specific.
Because I'm an incredibly attractive 69 year old, whenever I go out without my wife I'm always hit on. Now every man likes fresh fish. So do I avail myself of a very kind offer, or do I consider the hurt and wellbeing of others? That choice is mine to make and that is exercising my will.
Now of course that was total BS, I'm a 69 year old man who needs a couple of days warning to fire up, but you knew that.
I don't know how it compares to anything. You're human. You've didn't get to where you are by bumping blindly into walls. All I know is that I get to choose and often I do so against my base nature.
Will, or Free Will is not found in isolation. It is coloured by all sorts of life experiences, culture, habit, etc and I guess it is somewhat like any mineral, it get purified by the fire of life experience.
