I agree, most of them are pretty useless. The only reason the financial planners ever existed was to sell products.
One other thing I noticed about financial planners is that most of them were washed-up ex-employees of financial institutions. In the past, it was literally a shitty 2-week diploma and you could get your authority. Then they used their redundancy to buy a trail book of commissions and off they went. No wonder the industry has been so bad for so long.
