none of your statements are factually correct. Dongle solutions may look nice from a layman perspective.
1. It only works on iOS and Android. So with the dongle the merchant also needs to provide a phone that works with it. Not too sure if the whole Tyro merchant base is willing to provide that or expect Tyro to provide. Square does have the full solution. Tyro has some iOS and android specific integrations not sure what the market size is within Tyro.
2. Tyro will have less control over the connectivity. They now rely on Apple and google and sophistication for the merchants or staff to be able to control this tech. most business owners. Dealing with business owners on a daily basis, technical they are not.
3. Square marketing team called form 2016, they want their idea's back. I guess it depends who you compare to
