Archer Materials to collaborate with AIML on quantum semiconductor development
The company has entered into an MOU with The Adelaide University’s Australian Institute for Machine Learning with the cooperation intended to last five years.
Archer Materials Ltd (ASX:AXE, OTC:ARRXF) will collaborate with the Australian Institute for Machine Learning (AIML) in work focusing on advanced materials development, device fabrication and characterisation, and the development of quantum semiconductors relevant to Archer’s 12CQ chip technology.
The collaboration is part of a non-binding MOU entered into by Archer Materials and the University of Adelaide, of which the AIML is a research institute dedicated to machine learning.
Relevant to 12CQ chip
Archer is a technology company developing advanced semiconductor devices, including processor chips that are relevant to quantum computing.
It is developing the 12CQ chip, a world-first qubit processor technology, that could allow for quantum computing powered mobile devices (QPMDs).
The MOU is expected to enhance the important work being carried out by Archer and AIML.
Critical technologies
Advanced materials, AI and quantum technologies are all listed and identified as critical technologies of national interest by the Australian Government.
Cooperation between Archer and AIML is intended to last five years and has broad scope, including:
- Prototyping and testing of Archer’s quantum semiconductor components and devices that could be integrated into use towards machine learning, artificial intelligence, computer vision and deep learning.
- Providing Archer access to talented scientists and researchers to carry out development work related to the company’s 12CQ chip technology.
- Conducting collaborative research and development and undertaking research translation which may result in outcomes in the form of patents and journal articles.
About AIML
The Australian Institute for Machine Learning is a research institute with world-class laboratory facilities within The University of Adelaide, dedicated to research in machine learning.
AIML’s strengths lie in machine learning methods and methods related to machine learning including artificial intelligence, computer vision, natural language processing, visual question and answering, and deep learning.
