Hamilton here, knowingly or unknowingly reveals the real disconnect between broader AGW ideology and the results of scientific inquiry. i.e. if we only use the "science" we will only get part of the way to our predetermined ideological position - to bring about a change in the way we live. I have no opinion on the ideology, it may or may not be a preferable way to live.

I've taken the last couple of months or so to acquaint myself with the science surrounding the AGW hypothesis i.e. that increase CO2 emissions lead to dangerous global warming. I have been surprised and profoundly disturbed by the lack of empirically tested and observed evidence for to justify the hypothesis being on the dangerous side....
There are plenty of reasons to be concerned about pollution, the burning of fossil fuels and the environment; however but focusing on reducing greenhouse gases will be folly and the height of futility....Given that the results will be largely benign, there are worse ways of blowing billions - it could be spent on another major war for example. What has me a bit down though is that the spirit of scientific inquiry has been largely hijacked in this area, and more worryingly the general population are too ignorant of science or too "relaxed & comfortable" to get a sense of outrage of what is being spun at them. Society only move forward when the principles of science are upheld & defended -don't see much in the global debate of this....all sorts of outrageous untested claims are allowable if they can scare people it seems
