During several years I short severely MSB and I made hips. The part was lucky part was the emotional component of the holder, punters, investors that was just having beautiful dreams. Just dreams.
The reality of shorting is many times more simple than people usually believe. And always when I read " short squeeze"."burn shorters"... how "unfair and poison short are.." etc, I always think... How low share education these people are.
First...most of the SHORT selling volume comes from, HOLDER. Yes from the same ones that hold 3-4-5-7% of total shares they are the highest shorters and easy know that. (ask your financial adviser how to find the movement of major holders shorting)
The short not because they are bad or they curse the company or they are just playing games, red/black.
They short because in pivotal moments they have in place management risk... they mitigate... and short is one way to "create a buffer while the announcement is coming.
They don't care if drops 20% if 50% of their shares are short. because then, the problem is "just 10%.
This is one section of short.
Yes, exist a secondary market when people like me, if we believe the share is OVERPRICED and the next month's nothing relevant will come (or will come negative).
I can't say about, price. Must be a completely stupid talk about "high price or low price" in shares like MSB in such moments. 1.70 can be too high too low... You just will know after the next announcement.
The increase in recent times is of course the result of this moment when the faith of the company partially is being traced.
A good OTAT meeting with BLA indication and an NVS re-do of the deal will be huge. All companies will receive OXYGEN of credibility in an entire project that involves not just ARDS or GDHV but many other areas (like a heart) that all can produce amazing long-term results. (and yes, the opposite is true... a bad OTAT with no indication and NVS saying bye-bye will promote a huge depression in the entire project.
That is how the market act and reacts... Not with 'rational' conclusions. a bad here will bring a fill bad feeling about MSC.(like or not and this is how the market works... Including long-term holders/funds that under negative results sell for any price and move on to the next share.

The action of short selling obviously is NOT LINKED to insider info and they are not BETTER informed in an illegal manner.(yes they are much better informed because they spend money to go deep in several areas usually small investors like us even think about.
I remember one short-seller(Chinese) that hired 3 guys in China just to stay in front of several relevant shops checking the sale of Blackmore's formulas to decide if he goes ahead or stops short selling.
Thinks like that or much more intellectual activity. But nothing illegal. Usually short is managed by the highest level of players. And they are not evil. They are just playing the same game like us... Just in the other view of the share.
Now, I'm under the view we have enough reason to hope for the good. But of course is a game and of course is a risk. As such each one must balance the volume according to his/her profile.
