I believe there are just as many young families out there bucking the trend, putting in the hard yards and reaping the rewards....in fact there are whole streets, and suburbs full of them...
they are not living in the mcmansions, just ordinary 1950's houses in the outer suburbs....
I know of a few, they bought their homes about 4-5 years ago...responsible people, who did their sums and had been budgeting for their future.....then it was the 'nesting' that sealed it for them, they wanted to start a family...in their own home...not a rented place

they grow their own vegies in those big quarter acre blocks, do not spend all their money at safeway, but shop around at the markets, eating wholesome food. no pre packaged stuff...
the houses still look a bit neglected, not too much hype , its all low key stuff, but they are very happy with their lot, 2 children now, and no worries about jobs or interest rates...
in fact they are looking to upgrade to a bigger house..
their houses have doubled in value...they are not deterred by the higher prices to upgrade...cause they have a higher trade in value, and the loan remains the same....

the real world is very different from the quite negative views from a handful on these sites....
oh and those young families were all renting in the city and living it up....until they finally realised they would never be able to afford an inner city house.....so they went where it was affordable.....and they love it out there..
