I don't know the team or their individual skill sets but it seems to me we need a serious project manager with testicles to head up this new octopus with many tentacles.

What I do know is a team of geologists (and one lifestyle director) doesn't necessarily make a good management team (as evidenced by the above)... I say this because I worked with academics! As a former director of a uni program who ran big projects on tight timelines, it was like hearding cats... 1/3 did what was asked, 1/3 needed monitoring and managing all the way and the other 1/3 did stuff all (sound familiar?). Long story short, we were constantly in contingency mode, covering for the passengers on the team but we nevertheless got the jobs done in the time allocated. Oh, I had a gut full and left.

The point is, talk is cheap and some people have clearly not lifted to the new challenge on the BOD (for whatever reason) AND the Doc must be one frustrated alpaca if he's managing contingencies and covering all the time... so yes, I agree, something needs to change and fast!
