This is so short sighted it’s laughable.
Do you think that PayPal’s ultimate plan is to rollout their BNPL offering to every region apart from SEA? That is the only scenario in which IOU isn’t impacted by PayPal in any way.
The afterpay acquisition showed that BNPL as a standalone business is money losing, but has value as another customer acquisition channel.
The future of BNPL is as a service offering on a wider platform like square or PayPal
