I once bought a knob of ginger at the fruiterers, and it was rung up as if I had bought an entire Kilogram!! At least, I was able to easily go back and get my money back. Trouble with ginger is I rarely use it, but buy it thinking the inspiration for cooking with it will happen. I've been told, it makes a good drink, particularly if one's throat is playing up (which happens when I talk too much). Anyway, I am making this drink right now as my fruit bowl currently has a very fresh little ginger piece. OK, not the point of your message here. Garlic is much like ginger. Pay heaps to the retailer and nothing much to the grower.
