The role of the Australian of the Year is to be an ambassador for their particular interest which qualified them in the first instance to be Aussie of the Year
In Ms Tame.s case, she was (and is) an advocate for protecting women & girls against sexual violence & rape. She is a victim of such despicable behaviour
She is not alone as some on these threads would want us to believe . Take for example the Comm Gov consolidated stats on the issue for CY 2018:
IMO its a national scandal for 72,000 women to be impacted over just one year and those on these threads or on other social media platforms who try to politicise/minimise such tragedy should too be ashamed of themselves.
While we (admirably) advocate human rights for Uyghurs in west China, we ought to show good example and enact laws & strategies to eliminate human injustices at home.
Like charity, human rights should begin at home, IMO.
This is why young women like those featured in the OP should get publicity in order to make the average Aussie aware of the extent of this domestic & workplace shameful practice.
