Most likely is that it is a 'follow back' sort of thing, in other words if you follow them and you account is not a spam account, they follow you back.... I doubt that they actively sought out traders to follow.
Besides, traders do help with momentum.... And also, they act as free advertising when they retweet / repost company announcements for free.
