You can believe what you like about whether climate change/ sustainability/ESG etc is real or a complete crock.......the reality is there is a growing community of woke investors that fund managers are falling over each other to attract .....and there are governments worldwide falling over themselves to appear in touch and on board with climate change/renewables etc....and banks and other lenders that know that financing fossil fuel companies/projects is only going to cause them grief.
That’s why I’m pleased Meg has moved some capital into renewable energy territory and sent some very strong signals to the market. It’s smart. Digging the heels in and saying ‘No - we’re an oil and gas company and we’re staying that way’ just invites opposition and withdrawal of all forms of support.
With Meg playing the game some of this Wall of Green Money might just end up lining the pockets of us WPL shareholders.
