Unfortunately it will be the eventual end for all high energy consuming industry in Europe. This is already happening, major smelters are closing down permanently in the EU ie. Ferroglobe one of the largest smelter companies in the world. Ferroglobe have already permanently closed smelters in France, Spanish smelters 50% closed. OZL the main alloy smelter in Slovakia closed 50% of furnaces.
My previous post that was deleted had mention and links to these, but obviously some EMN shareholders don't like reading these facts and had the post moderated.

Any country that depends on wind turbines to deliver power for power intensive industry are accidents waiting to happen. Europe is now depending on Russian gas, countries like Spain are re-opening coal fire power plants.
Many power intensive materials are no longer produced in Europe ie magnesium, this is now mostly produced in China and the prices have gone through the roof.
Even though alloy prices have tripled in Europe the EU producers are still going broke and closing. The price of ferro manganese, silico manganese are at 10 year highs but EU producers are still losing money. OZF Slovak ferro-alloys producer has closed most of their smelter furnaces.
There is no simple solution to the power problems due to the fact that the EU has closed down coal fired power and nuclear power plants and wind turbines are so intermittent that industry cannot depend on regular/continuous supply.

The cost of power in the EU is now prohibitive for power intensive industries and the move to Asia is already happening. Norway and Iceland are now experiencing problems with lower dam levels for hydro.

Iceland is currently having problems with low dam levels and the huge aluminium smelters are concerned that it will cause problems.
