I have had a nibble at a recent insurance company overseas:
Price to book: 0.37 (ie 37% of book value)
Market cap: around 37b AUD
RoE: 10% but with stacks of cash on the balance sheet that reduce the RoE
Dividend yield around 7.3% but only pays out around 30% of profit (unlike IAG which pays out 80-100% of profit).
But major shareholder is the government, which is why I am nervous to buy big.
