Management have hardly ever used trading halts to announce anything, they just come out and say it.
IMO for them to now use a trading halt, it is to stop people panic selling on the news that the Aus Government has made an 'in-principle' deal with Moderna and allows management to response. This deal misses the idea of sovereignty capacity, Moderna is an international player and what happens when other companies don't want to share their IP with Moderna, Australia will miss out.
IMO IDT are now best suited to establishing an mRNA facility to help the universities and other researcher to manufacture trial vaccines and make personalised vaccines to treat less common diseases than covid (cancer). Funding is still on the table and could be used to build a small scale mRNA manufacturing facility, say 100,000 doses/year. These treats could also offer higher margins to covid vaccines given the limited competition and more complexity
