that's what I was confused about, too.

I know if I transfer money from one of my bank accounts to another, the transaction happens straight away…but if I say, pay my electrician, and he uses the same bank as I do, how long is it before he sees the money? what if he uses a different bank from me? it used to be three days or something to clear funds and cheques ( a convenient rort by banks?), but maybe it is reduced to one day now for transactions they occur between the major banks?

Maybe late SPP participants are given one day's grace to the funds to appear if they pay at 8 pm tomorrow night, but if they were paying from an overseas bank or obscure bank, maybe they will miss out because the fund transfer is taking too long?
