The aluminium story is great... but it's the silica metal that got me investing into MHM.
I've gone through the history of this project and summarised. (for us newbies)
29th April 2008
NEW PROJECT - SILICA PRODUCTION POTENTIAL
Historic (pre-JORC) estimation - 2.78 million tonne @ 99.13% purity.
[including 0.8 million tonne @ 99.6% purity)
*** Early suggestions are $400 to $600 per tonne***
note: this is the only market value that the company has put forward that I can find. Further research suggest this is cheap.
BUT - 2.72mT x $400 = $1.112 billion
29th April 2008
Later that day MHM retract their non-JORC estimations.
They did note that they were "non-JORC" - but - you still need to get a waiver from the ASX.
[naturally - its easier to just publish and then retract]
29th July 2008
little mention
2 lines about "continuing analysis and financial modelling"
also - last project listed.
30th October 2009
Contracted diamond drilling rig for next qtr to confirm Comalco's exhaustive research from the 1970's
30th January
MHM has recently been approached by interested parties.
***THIS IS THE FIRST MENTION OF INTERESTED PARTIES***
22nd April 2009
*The three zones are "moderately flat dipping" and therefore - "relatively simple quarrying operation"
*FURTHER APPROACHES by interested parties
*Confirm Comalco's 99.6% purity
*"additional areas of quartzite have been mapped within MHM's tenement"
31st July 2009
The theme is two
"The company continues to entertain interest from two interested parties"
Trial smaelting and "sample to two parties"
2nd October 2009
RESPONSE TO PRESS ARTICLE
offtake negotiations with a number of parties [not two]
Wacker Chemie is one of them
6th October 2009
** my favourite part **
"MHM is in negotiation with THREE parties"
The theme is now three.
My summary,
The purity and quantity of this resource seems to be creating an increasing level of world class interest.
We know Wacker is one.
The increase of "two parties" to "three parties" is significant imo.
It may mean delay in finalising a long term agreement - but for good reasons.
The timeline demonstrates the shift from previous priorities to this company making asset.
Good luck to all holders
