Equinox releases the following announcement as an early step in the construction of the Lumwana Cu/Co project in Zambia that has been designed to produce 120 000 tpa of metal for in excess of 20 years. Not many Coys have the latent value of this one especially with the capital raising phase now in full swing.

LUMWANA PROJECT ENGINEERING AND CONSTRUCTION
TENDER PROCESS
Equinox Minerals Limited (TSX and ASX code: “EQN”) (“Equinox”) is pleased to announce that, and
in accordance with its development plans of the Lumwana copper-cobalt project (“Lumwana”) in Zambia,
pre-qualification for the Engineering Procurement and Construction Management (“EPCM”) contract for
Lumwana has been completed and six engineering organisations have been selected to prepare formal
tenders.
These organisations are:
• Aker Kvaerner Australia Pty Ltd,
• Ausenco Grinaker LTA Joint Venture,
• Bateman Metals Limited,
• GRD Minproc Limited,
• Murray & Roberts Engineering Solutions Limited, and
• SNC-Lavalin Australia Pty Ltd.
Tenders are scheduled to close in October 2004, with award of the EPCM contract scheduled to be
completed in late-2004. The EPCM contract has been structured so that Equinox has the option to
continue EPCM or convert to a fixed-price EPC on defined deliverables.
Equinox’s CEO, Mr. Craig Williams commented that, “The calibre of the pre-qualification bids for the
Lumwana EPCM contract was very high, suggesting keen competition to develop this world class
project.”
