This is the Hindsight Army’s favourite .....that investing in China was total stupidity.
No it wasn’t.
At the time I remember the belief was that with a burgeoning middle class and hungry for tech you were a moron if you stayed out of stocks like Alibaba and Tencent. This was a population heading towards 1.5 billion and to be a proper global investor you had to be into this market.....it presented as a growth opportunity you couldn’t ignore.
It turned out to be a disaster - no denying it - but all those that say they absolutely saw that coming are full of Shite.
