I have friends that moved to Cairns in 2010, I have watched their youngest son grow up from birth, and even when they moved I used to visit a few times a year up until 2019. My friends are both University educated and had money. They were absent parents and I watched their youngest go down hill over the years. Despite my pleas to help their son they continued to ignore him. He is now about 19 or 20, illiterate, unemployed and last year served time in jail. He is running riot up there along with some of his indigenous mates.
