Well, my wife is a relatively high level public servant and she never leaves the office before 9 or 10pm, and often goes in on the weekend. I think, Bunn, that the old days of public servants putting in 4 hour days is a relic of the past. Same goes for the many teachers i know that put in endless hour of prep on top of their normal work hours. Things have change dramatically in the public service sector since the 80s.
