It means some shares are issued to staff as a bonus with a provision they stay employed for a specific time or meet set criteria. if they do they keep the shares if not they do not the shares are cancelled by a buyback no loss to the company the good thing is if employees keep the shares it shows that they are earning their keep and are of value to the business.
