For the many reasons listed above I am happy to have my main investing account with a major banks I know I own the shares and have my own HIN number etc. I also have a Sharpies account where I can spend smaller amounts, but spare change to use without worrying about a $15 fee taking away a large percentage of my profit percentage for smaller amounts.
That being said I know they are the custodian, and after hearing the hassle my friend had getting his free options at some point I will transfer my RAC shares back to main account.
