    Your guess is as good as mine. The shorts started growing in March 2021 when St James Place placed Magellan on Amber due to performance (ref: https://www.copyright link/companies/financial-services/magellan-financial-loses-its-biggest-mandate-20211217-p59ij6), segment of paragraph here:

    Not sure why most shorts wouldn't have closed out on Monday, they grew. Surely there couldn't be any worse news coming out.
