No trouble in this turcin. The deadline wasn't to have the deal sewn up - that can take several days. A trading halt however cannot and that is the deadline in this matter - one imposed by the ASX on trading - not on the negotations per se.
But agree - on the morning after a wonderful DOW, this is er a flaccid, frustrating time!
