I'm glad they've finally come around to lifting this ban. Cast your mind back to when Duterte first lifted the new mines ban in April 2021. Back then, the reaction from the mining sector in general was "that's good, but what about the open-pit mining ban?". It was clear that this particular ban really hurt the prospects of a lot of potential new mines.
For CLA though, this news coincides very nicely with the last drill hole results we got. That was a step-out hole that confirmed that the high-grade core at MCB was larger than previously confirmed, and more importantly, that it is larger at the shallow end.
Not saying that MCB needs open pit or if it's suitable for it, but having that option available now on the table if it was needed surely derisks the prospects of the project.
