At a presentation a month or so ago, I specifically asked Chris Reed about this issue. His response was that there would be plenty of early supply of batteries from the rejected batteries of the big battery plants. If I remember correctly it was ~30% rejected near start-up while production was fine tuned, falling to ~10% once it was running well.

With the big number of battery factories coming online in Europe over the next 5 years, there would be heaps of supply from rejected cells before we start to see expired cells from EVs coming through.

The point is though - WHO is going to get those rejected batteries?

Contracts will need to be signed.

I feel as those contracts start to get put in place, the NMT SP will start to better reflect the massive profits that the recycling plants will generate. Until they are in place, there is a supply risk for that part of NMT.
