dow jones crashes, page-30

Well the market doesn't appear to be going sideways now-it appears to be going downwards and I don't understand why?
Is it still to do with the new housing starts drop in the U.S a few days back?
Is it the begining of a major downward trend?
The GFC is just to fresh for me to remain a longtermer and risk getting smashed after whats been so far a decent 1/2 year.
I believe i'm holding good stocks but the market won't be sympathetic to that fact it will crush my holding with no remorse and that bothers me.
