Ok Robface, let’s play this out:
- The minister has a number of things on her plate, inclusive of a review of existing leasing arrangements as prioritised by the President
- The minister checks her phone to discover a polite idiot has tweeted at her and told her to a) grant a mining lease for Monano, and b) to do it now.
- In your head, and in the head of the polite idiot, the Minister thinks to herself “yeah, I guess I should do that”, and based on that tweet yanks the Monano lease out the to-do pile and signs it.
Is this really what you think the effect of the polite idiot will be?
Now, can you think of any ways that the tweet from the polite idiot might adversely impact the minister's mindset or work priorities?
Does she feel bullied or harassed?
Does this feel a lot like the pressure she gets from others - the same ones who own leases the DRC is now trying to unwind?
Does she think to herself “f you, polite idiot” and chooses a different ML to assess and approve?
Do any of these thing help advance the ML? Didn’t think so.
