I am not a fan of the use of gas in the 'calcination' process, as this will be a negative in meeting ESG (Environmental, Social Governance) compliance, which could result in a tax on CXO product or a discount of CXO prices in our target markets.

With the world focus on being 'green', it will be most important that the entire CXO production process be as climate friendly as possible. And this isn't just for the 'feel good factor', this will be an imperative financial consideration.

I am hopeful that the 'Lithium salt' production process being developed by Calix (CLX) and hopefully being piloted soon by other lithium producers can be implemented by CXO. The process converts spod to a concentrated lithium salt midstream product that is used in the production of lithium Carbonate, thereby reducing the tonnage needed to be transported and keeping around 90% of waste at the plant site. The process also uses less energy (electricity) which can be of the renewable variety and has improved recovery due to ability to process 'fines'.
