"While the chip savings in speech recognition, which only needs around one to two watts, may appear marginal, the developers expect far more from the technology. Because the image analysis for autonomous driving according to level 4 and 5 currently requires around 4 kW of power. If the demand could be reduced to 400 watts through the use of such AI chips, that would be an extreme gain for the range of automated e-cars."
