What a coincidence, I found a brand new podcast from today about the (graphene) aluminum ion battery with professor Maximilian Fichtner. I won't go into many details, but he mentioned, that not just aluminum ions themselves, but molecules together with chloride ions called Tetrachloroaluminate transport the electric charge, and these molecules are very corrosive and destroy the metal anode for example aluminum foil. As far as charging speed is concerned, he said that a lab result should not be confused with a technical device / finished product. He said he has seen lithium ion battery cells with much faster charging speed than those that are used in any products on the market. In the podcast he also talks about graphene as a battery material.

Interesting that Graphene Manufacturing Group actually follows my twitter account. Professor Maximilian Fichtner did too for a period of time. The world is small. ^^
