Working for yourself puts a slightly different slant on retirement. It assumes you are doing something you want to do and enjoy your daily activities. I am the same vintage as you and became self employed around age 45. That was when working life became enjoyable. I would say I am retired now but it was never a decision. From mid 60's just started doing less deals until travel and other activities overtook work. It's great to see young people on here setting up their future so early. The real benefit is that it opens up options which are usually off the table if you are under financial pressure. You need a lot of resilience to cop the ups and downs of investing but it can be a lot of fun when a PLS comes along.
