Well I guess that's the stock market in a nutshell, but I think a reasonable assumption can be drawn, that the option price was set at an amount that the so called 'sophisticated' buyers would see as pretty near base market NPV or at least a value that if revisited, might create a psychological platform from which to grow the SP, to draw a line under it so to speak. Beneath this price level the buying opportunities become irresistible and then buying pressure drives the SP back up. Also in the event anyone is contemplating a takeover, it re-presents them with an opportunity to make a move. Whether this comes off or not is irrelevant as the market loves T/O speculation. IMHO now until xmas will be very lively.
