BHP tried to buy stranded Noront but failed, now warehoused by AF
BHP signed a big offtake deal with Tesla but doesnt currently have the ore to fill it with
Only 2 near term miners with large mines/JORC resources and built mills left not controlled by either shareholdings or revenue control by the big boys.

WSA uses BHPs kambalda concentrator and gets hit with its exorbitant 35% tolling fees and transport costs
Jinchuan even worse as they ship the mill concentrate to China offshore so not smelted/refined in Australia at all at BHPs Kalgoorlie smetler or the Kwinina Refinery.

Fact remains BHP needs more Ni ore and doesnt have any more, so what next.
A bid for one they dont already control imho.
